Who would have thought that the best way to welcome autumn will be with strings and angel voice!* — that is a sentence used in one of the reviews of Julia Holter’s latest record. On 8th November the artist will perform at the Ars Cameralis Festival 2016 with her only concert in Poland this year.
Julia Holter is an American singer, multi-instrumentalist and composer, creating alternative pop. She has worked with Nite Jewel, Daniel Wohl, Ducktails and Linda Perhacs, among others. Her debut album Tragedy, recorded in her own bedroom, was released in 2011. Her following albums Ekstasis and Loud City Song established Holter’s position in the world of alternative music.
Her latest album — Have You In My Wilderness — was released last year and it turned out to be for the artist the same breakthrough as the album Ok Computer has been for Radiohead and the album Nevermind for Nirvana. The album astonished the critics (it got high positions on annual summaries of significant music magazines) and most of all it brought the admiration of the world audience.
It’s hardly surprising. Her music combines avant-garde’s inclinations with intimate, confessional songs and slightly baroque form or composition’s arrangements. Perhaps soon, occasionally occuring comparison between Julia Holter and Kate Bush, will turn out to be a great compliment to the second artist.
Tickets to Julia Holter’s concert during the Ars Cameralis Festival 2016 will be available in June.
