Michel Faber was born in 1960 in Netherlands and aged seven he moved with his family to Australia, where he graduated at the University of Melbourne. In 1993 he moved again, this time to Scotland, where he works and lives till today. He started writing when he was fourteen. Although, he oficially debuted in 1998 with Some Rain Must Fall and Other Stories, two years earlier he was honored with Ian St James Aword for the title story from this volume.
Faber is considered as one of the most interesting European novelist. His first novel Under the Skin (2000) defies simple categorization, deriving from the convention of science-fiction, horror or thriller. In 2014, after publishing The Book of Strange New Things — a story about British journey into space, he declared it was his last novel. Michel Faber is also a journalist cooperating with „The Guardian”. He is also a fan and collector of comic books and vinyls.
