Ars Cameralis Silesiae Superioris

"tu!” {silesian familijo plądrofono}

We didn’t want to tell about ourselves and our region using only music. We’ve invited the eldest member of our family, our 83-year-old aunt Lica who is almost 90 now, to tell what she remembers from the old days. We wanted her story to create a platform between there and here, then and now. And that was hitting the bull’s eye.

A seventeen-part-play consisting of minimalist, melancholic, instrumental commentary entwined around sweet and sour memories of vigorous Aunt Lica. On the cover — a pattern from paint roller and Wojtek’s stamps. It is a very intimate and stirring proposition which can’t be a subject to critical appraisal — how can you judge a family photo album? This music speaks to me and it is a pleasent suprise to find it in the repertoire of this prolific artist, who is usually a little uncritical when it comes to selecting material for new albums. This Silesian family saga is Wojtek’s first attempt to deal with his private mythology as a man and an artist. A successful attempt which is qualitatively close to my „literary music” (vide: „Mikrosłuchowiska"). I’m sure Wojtek is going to return to this family matter. It is the basic matter. Even the artists can’t deny it. In the music and aesthetic sense, I like the most the end of the album from index [13] to [17], in which Wojtek’s daughter is reading her great grandad’s diary.

About the band:

The band Mołr Drammaz was founded by Wojtek Kucharczyk (The Complainer, retro*sex*galaxy, Kucharczyk) and Asia Bronisławska (Asi Mina) around 1994. Beside the siblings,members of the band include: Macio Moretti or Jacek Tokarski, among others.

The group have been noticed since the very begining, mostly because of their amazing energy and originality. Combination of the drums with electronics and vocal was in that time something really rare. They became recognizable abroad in short notice (reviews of their records were published by The Wire).
