The finissage of the exhibition was held during ⅩⅩⅣ Ars Cameralis Festival 2015.
When we approach Schoen’s Palace surrounded by roots of trees of a mysterious park, we notice an intriguing loneliness, melancholy, feels like the building became a sign of time with big question mark: where are we and where everything goes. Although, the building has a material form and is subjected to all laws of an inorganic world — laws of physics and chemistry, it was a witness of history of the city. Therefore, the mystery and rustling of trees, senile character of its walls commit and admonish that everything human states is only a note on margin of weathered text.
Woman is like Sosnowiec. This phrase sounds like an incantation, like waking up from the dream of the world around us, like an awakening of a diffuse being, giving it its own name. The exhibition, we’ve prepared, is like falling into an expanse of senses, a long wandering through rooms of senses, an attempt to understand the truth about things that were, and still are. On the other hand, every city just like a body, has its functions and organs, its own physiology and physiognomy. That’s why everybody on their own way can love a City, even if the essential measure of the love is the depth of lack of experiencing the object of affection.
Words introducing the exhibition are images of words encircled by imagination of Michał Minor. At the exhibition we will admire images-shadows „weaved” by hands of Jadwiga Maziarska, we will explore a world of unknown and mysterious lightness of rejected existences by Janina Krauoe-Świderska, we will see photographs of darkness and fog of the fumes of loneliness by Mateusz Hajman, images of infinity of nature by Natalia Bażowska, and world of bodies searching the truth in nature by Dominika Kowynia. However, it is not the end of the journey — we will also get a sight of works by such artists as Zofia Kulik, Andrzej Urbanowicz, Matylda Sałajewska, Andrzej Tobis.
The title of exhibition Woman is like Sosnowiec refers to a poetry book and a poem by Marcin Baran Sosnowiec is like a woman which was published in 1992, three years after Poland entered the road of freedom.
The finissage of the exhibition was held on November 24, 2015 at 6 p.m. An installation by Matylda Sałajewska and concert of Erith took place.
